A skin test has been created to determine whether a booster vaccination against COVID-19 is needed

Spanish specialists have developed Covidcell, a skin test reflecting the state of cellular immunity.

Scientists from the University Hospital of the Canary Islands have created a test that determines whether a person needs a booster dose of the coronavirus vaccine. This was reported by the radio station on Wednesday, February 9 Onda Cero.

It is noted that the test is able to determine the state of a person’s cellular immunity and, thus, to identify whether he needs a booster vaccination against COVID-19.

During the procedure, a solution with a particle of SARS-CoV-2 spike protein is injected into the patient’s forearm to study the skin reaction. Such a test will show whether there is cellular immunity against this pathogen.

The waiting time for the result is from 12 to 48 hours after injection.

As the authors of the development emphasized, after the test, you do not need to return to the laboratory − instead, you can send a photo of the reaction on the skin.

Recall that in January, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine approved the booster dose of the vaccine against the coronavirus. It was allowed to be done by everyone over the age of 18 six months after the full course of vaccination.-
