JAKARTA – Expeditions conducted in the Northern Hawaiian Islands discovered artifacts at the bottom of a ravine what appeared to be a yellow brick road thought to be in ruins Atlantis.

As per Science Alert, Friday (12/23/2022), the discovery was made by the exploration vessel Nautilus earlier this year while surveying Liliʻuokalani Peak at Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument (PMNM).

The PMNM is one of the largest marine protected areas in the world, larger than all national parks in the United States (US) combined, and scientists have only explored about 3% of its seabed.

Researchers at the Ocean Exploration Trust have studied the boundaries of this wilderness which is more than 3,000 meters below the ocean.

Footage of the expedition, posted on YouTube last April, captures the moment the researchers operate the ocean-going vehicle before it hits the road.

“This is the road to Atlantis,” a researcher said on the radio.

“Yellow Brick Road?” another voice answered.

“This is weird,” added another team member.

The team said the piece looked almost like a “cooked crust” that could peel off.

In one small section, the volcanic rock has split in such a way that it closely resembles brick.

“The 90-degree inclined fissure may be related to heating and cooling stresses from multiple eruptions in this area,” the video caption states.

At first glance, the gap could easily be mistaken for entry into a wonderful new world.
