Scientists from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Georgia revealed that the viruses “MERS”, “Corona” and “SARS” have the same weaknesses, which gives a boost of hope for the development of an effective drug.
According to the scientists, the problem with traditional antivirals is that they work on viral enzymes that mutate and become resistant to drugs, and therefore work must be done to eliminate the proteins responsible for the reproduction of the virus, according to Sputnik.
Scientists have identified more than 300 proteins produced by the infected cell that interact with the viruses mentioned above. At the same time, the number of viral particles that affect the human body is only about 20, according to the scientific journal “Science”.
The scientists pointed out that among the proteins produced by the infected cells is the “Tom70” protein, which participates in the movement of protein particles from the cellular juice to the mitochondria and activates the mitochondrial signaling proteins, and thus it helps the “Corona” virus.
However, when the Orf9b gene interacts with the Coronavirus, it can be used as a trap to deliver antiviral drugs and eliminate the virus.
