Scientists Discover New Dinosaur Species That Use Heads To Prey

ARGENTINA – Scientists in Argentina recently reported findings dinosaur fossils with unique details. The dinosaur is believed to have preyed on other animals with its head.

The dinosaur was forced to use its head to hunt because it had a unique physique, namely short arms. Uniquely the head of a dinosaur named Guemesia Ochoai it has a very hard skull.

The name Guemesia Ochoai is taken from the Argentine independence hero Martin Miguel de Guemes and the researcher involved in the discovery, Javier Ochoa.

They further stated that the very hard head was believed to have been used to hit its prey before it was eaten. The researchers believe the fossil they found may belong to a group of carnivorous dinosaurs called Abelisaurus.

It is known that Abelisaurus was a group of dinosaurs that walked on two legs and only had fairly short arms and walked bipedally. Abelisaufrus’ arms are believed to be shorter than those of Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Guemesia Ochoai’s arms were actually shorter than that of Abelisaurus. That’s what makes them use their heads and jaws to prey. “This is very unique and very different from other carnivorous dinosaurs, which allows us to understand that we are dealing with a completely new species,” said researcher Federico Agnolin of the Argentine national science council Conicet.

The Guardian reports, from the fossils it is known that dinosaurs were still teenagers and lived only a few million years before an asteroid wiped out the dinosaurs about 66 million years ago.

“We knew he had a very keen sense of smell and was farsighted,” said Agnolin, noting that he would walk upright on his big legs, with a solid cranium in front.

To be sure, the discovery adds to Argentina’s reputation as a treasure trove of dinosaur fossils and other prehistoric creatures. Because in the country where the legendary footballer MAradona was born, many dinosaur fossils have been found.
