Scientific Facts of the Moon Affecting the Tides of Sea Water Included in the Koran: Okezone techno

JAKARTAMoon and the Earth is about 400 times closer than the distance of the Earth to the Sun. Meanwhile, the diameter of the Moon is 400 times smaller than the diameter of the Sun.

This, in turn, makes the Moon and Sun have equally large angular diameters in the sky.

In the book Tafsir Ilmi ‘The Benefits of Heavenly Objects in the Perspective of the Qur’an and Science’ compiled by Lajnah Pentashihan Mushaf Qur’an, the Research and Development Agency and Training of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, with the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) describes the Moon as the mover of the tides.

The size of this same angular diameter can also be a sign that the roles of the Moon and the Sun are equally important in human life.

The moon and sun regulate the rhythm of the tides and ocean currents which have not been widely used as a source of energy.

Distributing seawater heat means stabilizing the weather. Apart from being a satellite of the Earth, the Moon is also a celestial body whose influence on its parent planet is very large.

Among these influences are the positions that will cause the tides. In connection with this, in the Qur’an Allah says:

And the moon We predestined for mansions until it recurred like the ancient lizard.

“And We have appointed for the Month manzilah-manzilah, until (after he reaches the last manzilah) he returns as an old bunch,” (QS. Yasin: 39).

This verse, talks about the determination of the positions of the Moon. As a result of its movement around the Earth, the Moon has positions that change all the time.

These positions are not only related to their appearance when viewed from Earth, but also their overall location to the parent planet.

On the other hand, the positions of the Moon, which are always changing, also have their own consequences for the Earth. As is known, the Moon has an attraction or gravity like the other planets.

With its location relatively close to Earth, this attraction must have a strong effect on its parent planet, causing Earth’s elements to be attracted and tilted toward the Moon.

The most volatile part of the Earth is the ocean. Therefore, at any time the sea level will change according to the position of the Moon.

When the Moon is in a position, the sea water that is in a straight line with it will be attracted and its surface will rise, as well as the sea which is 180 degrees.

The sea that is 90 degrees to the Moon will recede because its surface is attracted to a location in the direction of the Moon.

The ebb and flow of the sea always occurs at any time, although in different places. People who can feel the consequences the most are those who carry out their activities at sea, such as fishermen, sailors and the like.
