JAKARTA – In the scriptures Al-Qur’an explained a lot about the fruit. Starting from its benefits to features that are not yet known to humans.
Some of the fruits include dates and pomegranates. Then there is also another fruit, namely olives. This fruit is known to have a very nutritious oil, but apparently there are other uses.
Regarding olives, Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala explains through the holy book of the Qur’an:
“Allah (Giver) of light (to) the heavens and the Earth. The parable of the light of Allah is like an impenetrable hole, in which there is a great lamp. The lamp in the glass (and) the glass is like a star (which shines) like pearls kindled with oil from the blessed tree, (that is) the olive tree which grows neither in the east (of something) nor in the west (of it), whose oil (alone) almost illuminates, though not touched by fire. above the light, Allah guides to His light whom He wills, and Allah sets forth parables for mankind, and Allah is Aware of all things. ” (QS. An-Nur: 35)
In the book ‘Scientific Interpretation of Plants in the Perspective of the Qur’an and Science’ compiled by Lajnah Pentashihan Mushaf Qur’an, the Research and Development and Training Agency of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia with the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) also reveals the benefits of olives.
It was explained that the early part of the verse was widely discussed by scholars and experts in the field of religion with very diverse study results. Although in general they think that this verse is a description of the light of divine guidance, it can also be related to the structure of radioactive atoms.
How not, this verse likens the light of Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala as a basin (al-misykat) with a large lamp (al-misbah) in it.
This big lamp is in the glass (az-zujajah) and this glass shimmers like a shining star. The star-like glint of the glass was lit by the oil of the olive tree.
Olives are one of the shrubs whose types are scattered in the area around the Mediterranean Sea. The trees are long-lived and can reach hundreds of years. Therefore, olives can be harvested in a very long time.
The olive tree (Olea Europea) comes from the Oleaceae tribe and has a varied stature. Within this tribe there are varieties with relatively small stature with a height of only 8 meters.
There are varieties in the form of shrubs, to varieties that spread. The number of species in the Oleaceae tribe is quite a lot, between 500 to 600, found in all parts of the world except in cold regions.
As a food mixture, olives contain several elements that humans need, such as high enough protein, salt, iron, phosphorus, and vitamins A and B.
Olives are also believed to be able to smooth the skin and are therefore used in the soap industry. Olive oil also has advantages that other animal or vegetable oils don’t have.
Olive oil is known to be able to nourish the heart and blood vessels. In the health sector, olive oil has an important role.
