Freiburg / Lübeck (dpa) – The tumor specialists Robert Zeiser from the Freiburg University Hospital and Nikolas von Bubnoff from the Lübeck University will receive the German Cancer Prize 2021. The Freiburg University Hospital announced this on Wednesday. Zeiser’s and Bubnoff’s research is recognized, which makes a significant contribution to the better control of serious complications after a stem cell transplant. The award ceremony is planned for the summer. Both received the award in the Translational Research division.

Likewise, the surgeon Markus Büchler from the Heidelberg University Hospital will be honored with the prestigious award for his work on improving the treatment of pancreatic cancer. He is honored in the clinical research category. The award is one of the highest awards in oncology and is awarded annually in several areas, as announced by the Heidelberg University Hospital. Each category is endowed with 7,500 euros.
