Schwarzenegger, born in Austria, has also criticized the “lack of guts” on the part of the Republicans, who have not wanted to oppose Trump. In particular, Schwarzenegger has compared the Trumpists’ assault to the Night of Broken Glass in 1938, the attack by Nazi groups on Jewish businesses, synagogues and homes.
“There is broken glass in the windows of the United States Capitol, but the mob not only smashed the glass of the Capitol windows, but they smashed the ideas we took for granted. They not only smashed the doors of the building that houses American democracy, rather they overwhelmed the very principles on which our country was founded, “he denounced.
Schwarzenegger has recalled that as a child in Austria he saw broken men drinking to forget their guilt for participating in the “most evil regime” in history and has revealed that his own father drank and beat him and his mother.
“President Trump wanted to turn around the results of an election, of a fair election. He wanted to carry out a coup by the State, deceiving people with lies. My father and my neighbors were also deceived with lies,” he said.
