„Ms Schröder-Kim has been removed from her position with immediate effect and her employment with NRW.GlobalBusiness will now be terminated without notice“said Mona Neubauer, spokeswoman for North Rhine-Westphalia’s economy minister.
The wife of the former chancellor was “repeatedly warned” to refrain from public statements on political issues, particularly the conflict in Ukraine, Neubauer added.
Schröder-Kim worked as the company’s representative in South Korea. Her responsibilities include promoting the state of North Rhine-Westphalia as an attractive place to do business.
On May 9, the Russian Embassy in Berlin organized a reception on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the Victory. The event was attended by veterans, residents of besieged Leningrad, representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as German public figures and journalists. The embassy was visited by former chancellor Schröder, former GDR leader Egon Krenz, AfD leaders Tino Hrupala and Alexander Gauland, as well as Left Party MP Klouts Ernst.
