Right in the entrance area of the church there were four large display boards and a pin board on which photos and text contributions gave visitors an impression of the conditions in the refugee camp mentioned. They are photos from the project “Now you see me Moria”. The photos taken last year, in Schopfheim, divided into partition walls with the titles “Living Conditions”, “Human Rights”, “Accommodation”, “Children’s Dreams” and “EU – where are you?” Illustrated the inhumane conditions prevailing there. Since non-governmental organizations and institutions were denied access to the Moria camp, the photo documents have a kind of unique selling point, because media people are also affected by the entry ban. The poster-like photo and text documents on the subject of “Children’s Dreams” were particularly impressive.
Doctors, pilots or nurses want to become the refugee children from Moria – they want to leave and, provided they are allowed to go to a country with the opportunity to pursue this training, do something that helps others.
Here, too, the exhibition built the bridge to the appeal to responsibility in the EU: “EU – where are you?” Accused looking away, especially in times of Corona. Because Corona is known to have pushed the refugee problem in the Mediterranean region into the background.
At the opening of the exhibition, Michael Straub from the Integration Working Group pointed out that they wanted to counteract this fact and draw attention to the disregard for human rights of refugees. And, it was said, it was important to take a look, especially to remind the politicians of the refugees’ problems and to demand solutions.
