Wiesbaden (dpa) – The state of Hesse supports corona protective measures in schools and daycare centers with a total of 100 million euros. “The educational institutions should remain as open as possible. The focus is always on the safety of young people and teachers,” said a statement published on Sunday by the state government and local authority associations. The money is “another important component (…) with which the schools and daycare centers will hopefully manage to get through the winter and the pandemic safely”.

The state government supports districts and cities with co-financing in their efforts to make schools and daycare centers “corona-proof”. The money is to be used, for example, to improve ventilation in the facilities – for example by purchasing mobile air purification systems for classrooms and daycare centers, in which regular intermittent ventilation is not sufficiently possible. According to experts, regular ventilation is an effective way to contain the spread of the coronavirus in enclosed spaces.
