Schools were told to prepare for remote sensing

Parents don’t know if it makes sense to buy a school uniform

Less than two weeks are left until the start of the new school year. Usually at this time, parents are full of school supplies, including buying uniforms and shoes for their children. At the same time, it is still not clear how to prepare for school this year. Perhaps the best purchase in the end is not a satchel, but a new laptop for remote control. Officials have advised schools to be prepared for distance learning in case the coronavirus situation worsens. It is possible that full-time studies can end without really starting. And, therefore, you will not need freshly bought school sundresses, trousers, jackets and a shift.

In a joint letter from Rospotrebnadzor and the Ministry of Education, recently sent to schools, educational institutions are encouraged to prepare for distance learning in case the situation with coronavirus worsens. Parents are afraid that such a scenario may come true after 2-3 weeks of full-time study. So is it worth it in such a situation to spend money on the same form, if there is a possibility that it will hang idle in the closet?

There are a lot of people in one of the school uniform stores in the Moscow region. The buyers are mainly parents with elementary school children.

– In our elementary school with a strict uniform, and from last year’s trousers the son grew up, – says Ekaterina, one of the customers. – So far we have decided to buy only one trousers and a blende sweater with a shirt collar. If everything goes well and the children are not locked up at home, then we’d better buy everything we need later. A backpack and jersey will work last year. It remains to buy only shoes for a change and a stationery, these things will be needed in any case. By the way, we bought a new laptop for child benefit back in July. In the spring, we were so worn out with one gadget for the whole family that we decided that this purchase was the most important one. Regardless of his studies, the son already needs to have his own computer.

According to the seller Alina, this year there are no fewer buyers, but people take a limited number of things.

– If earlier parents took trousers for boys with a small margin to fit well, now they ask for longer ones, – Alina explains. – We even give them advice on how to hem their pants so as not to spoil them, and then use them to grow. For girls, sundresses and dresses are also taken 1-2 sizes larger. Blazers and white shirts are bought significantly less than last year. But it is better to take turtlenecks, jumpers and blende sweaters. Obviously due to the fact that these things can be worn not only at school. It is noticeable that many people are not very good with money, if before they were asked first of all to pick up good quality things, now they are most interested in the price.

The prices for school uniforms have really increased significantly. So the pants, which I bought last year for 1800 rubles, this cost 2000, and a thin jumper costs 1400 rubles against last year’s 1200. Obviously, it is hardest for the parents of first-graders this year. If the guys from other classes have preserved something suitable for use from last year, then the kids have to buy everything from scratch.

– We have already bought the uniform, at the last moment all the pretty and inexpensive models in the stores run out, – explains Elena, the mother of the first grader. – We took two sundresses with a reserve, a white blouse and several turtlenecks, I think, if something happens, these things will fit next year. We also bought an orthopedic knapsack, this is the most expensive purchase, it cost 8 thousand rubles, but I hope it will serve us the entire primary school. My daughter has a sports uniform from additional classes, as a shift we take ballet flats, which we really could not wear in the spring due to quarantine.

Meanwhile, the mayor of Vologda made a very wise decision amid the economic crisis and pandemic. The mayor asked the school to abandon the uniform due to the difficult financial situation of the parents.

“Now not all parents can give part of the funds to buy a uniform. I think that school principals will understand me. If parents have the opportunity and desire to buy a new uniform for their child, no one forbids you to do it. If there is no opportunity, there is no need to buy anything, ”the mayor said.

By the way, in their requests for another allowance of 10 thousand for August, the parents indicated that they needed the money just for purchases for school. While there is no decision on the appointment of these payments, it might make sense to temporarily abolish the compulsory school uniform everywhere.
