Schools – Stuttgart – Greens boss: Baden-Württemberg’s primary school plans right – education

Berlin (dpa) – Green leader Annalena Baerbock supports the plans for a careful opening of primary schools in Baden-Württemberg. It is right to focus on the youngest now, said Baerbock on Wednesday in Berlin. That was also the suggestion of her party colleague, the Baden-Württemberg Prime Minister, Winfried Kretschmann. The 72-year-old assumes that daycare centers and elementary schools in the southwest will gradually be able to reopen from next Monday. A decision is to be made this Wednesday.

In a position paper published on Wednesday, Baerbock called for accompanying measures when schools are opened: “Corona rapid tests for self-application (which are now also available as spit tests) must be approved by the Federal Minister of Health immediately so that they can be used regularly with the gradual opening of the schools there . ” In addition, enough FFP2 masks should be available for teachers. “Of course it costs money, (…) but not everyone can say that schools have priority, but when it comes to the requirements, they always fall behind,” said Baerbock.

She also proposed an “education protection umbrella” and a nationwide right to Corona funding in the event of learning delays. Every single child must be reached – even those who still have no digital access at home, whose parents cannot help with homeschooling or who have failed to register their children for emergency care. “The consequences are fatal for these children,” wrote Baerbock in a position paper. Primary school students forget the entire alphabet or the multiplication table, others break the daily structure or the school lunch is missing.
