Schwerin (dpa / mv) – Despite the continued high number of new corona infections, including in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, schools in the state can largely run regularly. As the Ministry of Education announced in Schwerin on Tuesday, 98.2 percent of all students in public schools can currently take part in face-to-face classes. Accordingly, there are 3363 students and 278 teachers in quarantine. However, these are not only people who are associated with a positive case at a school. As a precaution, those who have had contact with infected people outside of school and therefore have to stay at home are also in quarantine.

According to the ministry, there are currently corona-related quarantine measures in 22 schools in the country. Three public schools are temporarily closed. These are the Jürgenstorf primary school (Mecklenburg Lake District), the Selmsdorf primary school (Northwest Mecklenburg district) and the Ferdinandshof special school (Vorpommern-Greifswald district). Because of the high number of infections in the Mecklenburg Lake District, there are restrictions on teaching at all four vocational schools.
