Kiel (dpa / lno) – In Schleswig-Holstein, pupils from the fifth grade must continue to wear a mask in class. The schools corona ordinance has been updated accordingly, the Ministry of Education announced at the weekend in Kiel. The measure is initially limited to November 30th.
In addition, in rural districts and urban districts in Schleswig-Holstein, if there is an incidence of 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days, a mask is required in class for students in grades 1 to 4. The mask requirement in primary schools applies in the affected districts and urban districts Cities until the 7-day incidence was below 50 infections per 100,000 inhabitants for six consecutive days. The mask requirement applies to the school yard, the cafeteria, school events outside the school premises as well as the way to school between the bus or train stop and the school. “Our schools are well prepared for regular operation under corona conditions and with everyday masks in class,” said Education Minister Karin Prien (CDU). The feedback to the ministry showed that the younger children in particular were able to cope well with the mask requirement.
In addition, the university corona ordinance was announced. Accordingly, teaching at universities must generally take place in digital form. However, examinations in attendance were permitted provided the minimum distance was observed. Practical courses as well as courses from the artistic universities, which are not digitally possible, can also take place in attendance. In order to give the new students a good start, courses for the first semester may also take place in cohorts. With a few exceptions, a mask is also required at universities.
“I know that this demands a lot from all of us,” said Prien. Neither the wearing of masks nor contact restrictions are pleasant, but this is the contribution schools and universities can make in times of the pandemic to slow the spread of the virus.
