Schools in Salerno, relocations flop: classes start on Monday

Year zero of schools Salerno seems to have no end. Because, just on the eve of the official start of the lessons set by the calendar of the Campania Region, another cold shower has arrived. Frozen. In fact, both for nursery school children and middle school students, the classrooms that will have to host them are not yet ready since the respective schools must be closed for urgent safety and seismic efficiency works.

In the first case, the entire building was declared uninhabitable “Carlo Alberto Alemagna-Collodi” school building in Ovidio Serino squareforcing its population of about 300 students to “move”. In the second case, that of “Monterisi”, initially, the destination for activities other than teaching was ordered only for the “A” block of the school building and for the two gyms marked “A” and “B”, with the consequent transfer of the students of only six classes. Subsequently, with a “second mayoral ordinance”, the mayor, Vincenzo Napolihas ordered the postponement of the start of lessons for all students of Monterisi. Instead of returning to school this morning, therefore, they will all sit down again at their desks starting next Monday. In particular, as regards the children of “Collodi” destined to be hosted at the Torrione Basso nursery school in via Carlo Pisacanea note arrived in which the school principal has made it known that it needs additional time to adapt the classrooms. Similarly, in a note sent to the administration, the head teacher of the Comprehensive Institute “Monterisi/Don Milani” has made clear the need to carry out in the“Mazzetti” school building a series of interventions to adapt the spaces intended to house the classes of the “Monterisi” secondary school.
