Two Dutch handball internationals who play at Borussia Dortmund have gone into mandatory quarantine. This was done by order of the health authorities of the city of Dortmund.
The players, Rinka Duijndam and Merel Freriks, have not tested positive, but still have to be in home isolation with the rest of their team until Saturday. This is the result of the matches the club played in Hungary for the Champions League against Györ last week.
Three players and a staff member of the Hungarian club then tested positive for the corona virus. Dortmund then had all players tested twice, was able to produce negative results, but the Dortmund GGD was not satisfied with that.
Three other Dutch players at Borussia do not have to be quarantined. Laura van der Heijden, Inger Smits and Kelly Dulfer were not with you to Hungary.
On Monday, the Dutch handball players gather at Papendal to prepare for the European Championship. That should start on December 4, but the question is whether it will be achieved. Norway would organize it, but that country has returned the organization due to the increase in the number of corona infections. Denmark is now investigating whether it can take over the organization.
