Entries for this year’s School Newspaper Competition can be made until November 30th. Printed newspapers or online newspapers published between 12 December 2021 and 30 November 2022 can be submitted. The Berlin School Newspaper Competition awards the best publications of the year 2022 in the types of school primary school, integrated secondary school, high school, school vocational / OSZ and school with special educational needs, as well as the most impressive contributions on the themes “Your Europe – your year”, “Berliner Theater im Blick ‘,’ Great atmosphere at school at lunch ?! ‘ and ‘How do you treat yourself?’
The aim of the initiative is to promote the engagement of young people in media work. It is a cooperation project between the Junge Presse Berlin, the Department of Education, Youth and Family of the Senate and the jup! Berlin. As a media partner, the Tagesspiegel provides editorial support for the competition, as it did last year, and makes non-cash prizes available to award-winning publishers.
Astrid-Sabine Busse, Senator for Education, Youth and Family: “Those who write for a school newspaper sharpen their vision of their school, but also of the social condition as a whole. This strengthens the internal democracy of the school and thus the democratic culture as a whole. In this way, young people experience in a very concrete way how important freedom of opinion and freedom of the press are. That’s why I’m happy when as many school newspaper editors as possible will take part in the competition. “
Award-winning school newspapers automatically qualify for the federal competition, the federal state school newspaper competition.
