Hanover (dpa / lni) – In a new decree, the Lower Saxony Ministry of Culture has drawn up binding rules for distance teaching and grading in the 2020/21 school year. In pure distance learning (scenario C) in grades 1 to 10, every school day should start with a digital meeting, such as a video conference. In this way, tasks could be clarified together, questions answered and solutions sketched out, the ministry announced on Wednesday.

Children and adolescents who lack technical equipment or study rooms at home should be offered school jobs. In addition, each school guarantees alternating lessons with divided classes (scenario B) as well as pure distance learning from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., by telephone or in person.

According to the decree, a preliminary overall grade must be determined for all pupils in all subjects by May 17th to ensure that grades are awarded. Upon request, the possibility of a voluntary performance to improve the overall grade will be given. It is important to ensure that students do not suffer any disadvantages due to their learning conditions, family backgrounds and domestic situation, it said.
