Hamburg (dpa / lno) – In Hamburg, elementary school students have also had to wear a mouth and nose cover in class since Wednesday. School Senator Ties Rabe (SPD) informed the school principal in a letter on Monday. Up to now, masking was only required in secondary schools in Hamburg.
Authority spokesman Peter Albrecht explained the requirement that the number of infections in schools has increased significantly in the past two weeks – including in primary schools. However, it is expressly a time-limited requirement until January 8th.
By Tuesday, parents had to tell schools whether their children should attend classroom or distance learning by January 8th. In order to avoid great hardship for students in the final grades of all school types, already planned exams and exams are to take place here from December 16 to January 8. They can be postponed if the majority of the students concerned want it, said the school authorities. The respective school should regulate exceptions.
On Wednesday the CDU parliamentary group wanted to introduce an application to the citizenship in order to create the legal basis for transmission of lessons by video. “The school senator must now act as quickly as possible and must not continue to put this on the back burner,” said her school policy spokeswoman, Birgit Stöver. The Hamburg data protection officer had already offered the Senate advice in May to legally enable digital lessons as video streaming from the classrooms.
