Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – North Rhine-Westphalia is continuing the helper program for the open full-day (OGS) at elementary and special schools that was started in the Corona crisis. School Minister Yvonne Gebauer (FDP) announced on Sunday that around 60 million euros would be made available for this school year. With the OGS helper program, schools can hire additional staff, such as trainers and pedagogical specialists, or increase existing contracts. The schools can also get support for the additional work involved in corona hygiene concepts, as well as for kitchen and cleaning services, accompanying excursions and the preparation of events.

In North Rhine-Westphalia there are more than 330,000 pupils in open all-day schools and more than 40,000 in all-day special schools.
