Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – The state parenting of the high schools demands daily classroom instruction for all classes in North Rhine-Westphalia. This would be possible with a reduction in the number of lessons and distribution over the mornings and afternoons, said association chairwoman Jutta Löchner on Wednesday in Düsseldorf.
A recent survey by state parents revealed an alarming need for action: According to this, more than 40 percent of the more than 41,000 parents who responded expect medium to serious knowledge gaps due to the limited teaching in the corona pandemic.
Almost 30 percent of parents with children in their 5th year stated that they felt “close to the limit”. Around 40 percent answered the question “How is your child?” with: Frustrated the lack of social contacts makes my child feel like “or” not good. 1.6 percent of parents even want to seek medical or psychological help for their children.
Extrapolated to half a million high school students in NRW, thousands of children are affected, the state parents said. “We can no longer afford to have the children at home for months,” warned Löchner.
Since Monday, elementary and special school pupils as well as pupils from graduating classes and vocational colleges have been able to take part in face-to-face classes again under tightened protective measures. For the primary level, there are alternating models of distance and face-to-face teaching in halved class sizes. The final years, on the other hand, may be taught in full class or course strength.
