Dresden (dpa / sn) – The State School Council (LSR) has spoken out against school sports in view of the tightened Corona measures. “Not only the sport itself, which has to take place in the gym in winter, also the close standing before and afterwards in the changing rooms counteracts the argument with which one justifies the wearing of masks in the classroom”, said state student spokeswoman Joanna Kesicka according to a statement on Saturday . Even if individual sports are played instead of team sports, this does not change the fact that people come into contact with each other in the gym and when changing clothes.
From Monday onwards, according to the Ministry of Culture, high school students in grades 11 and 12 as well as vocational students must also wear a mask in class if the distances in the classrooms cannot be maintained. All students from grade 5 are obliged to wear a mask outside of the classroom if the required distance is not possible. Upon request, teachers can receive an FFP2 mask.
Overall, the student council endorses the measures to contain the pandemic, even if wearing the mask in class is a considerable burden. Ensuring lessons in school is the best solution. “The first Corona wave showed us that face-to-face lessons for exam preparation are better than online learning. Each of us wishes to be able to sit in face-to-face lessons as long as possible,” emphasized Kesicka.
