schools closed in Côte-d’Or and parents struggling

“How are you doing?” “Do you think we can organize childcare between parents?” These are the questions that drive parents after leaving school in Dijon. A case of Covid-19 is suspected among the 90 kindergarten and first grade students, and suddenly these students who have all rubbed shoulders are sent home.

“We find ourselves again with the children at home, and it becomes very complicated. We’ve been keeping them at home for six months, we can’t ask grandparents for help, because they too have , and this is normal, apprehensions with the virus “ sighs Julie who has a child in primary school, while the youngest is in kindergarten. “I imagine families with three or four children, if it happens to them in turn to be sent home, how do we ensure our professional and our personal life? It has a significant impact on our nerves . “

“I’m going to take my daughter to work” -Aurélia, shopkeeper

“We are afraid, we wonder how it will be for the rest of the year” adds Aurélia. “We have to find a solution on call, I can’t stop in my work, I am a sales manager and we are already understaffed, if I am not going to work, well the store is not open , so my little girl will come with me to work. Impossible to do otherwise for the next 10 days. “

“My older daughter who is in primary school continues to go to class, she will meet her little sister at home this evening. There are a lot of siblings at school, and the virus may continue to run.”

Coming home from school

For children sent home, it is not a vacation. National Education ensures that “the school principal, or the head of the establishment, offers students who have been removed from their class a solution of pedagogical continuity in connection with the CNED (” my class at home “: virtual classes and teaching resources)”. Parents will therefore have to find time to support their toddlers in their learning. After 14 days, the children will be able to return to their classroom and their friends. Covid-19 testing is recommended, but not mandatory. No medical document will be required upon their return.
