“Following a long meeting of the crisis unit, it was decided that, starting from 17 November and until 3 December, primary and lower secondary schools in Basilicata will close”.
This was announced by the President of the Basilicata Region, Vito Bardi, who has just signed a new ordinance that provides for the closure of all schools in the region.
“We immediately monitored the trends in infections resulting from the reopening of schools – Bardi continues – and tried to the last to avoid these further restrictive measures, both because we are fully aware that face-to-face teaching is of fundamental importance for the growth of these students, in a delicate moment of their training, and because we are aware that the closure of schools involves considerable inconvenience for parents who are forced to reorganize themselves to make work compatible with assisting their children ”.
“Unfortunately the pandemic that does not ease – explains the president of Basilicata – its grip throughout Italy requires us to transform all the trends on which we read possible worsening into restrictive measures, in the exclusive need to protect the health of our community. However, we have decided to close these schools only for two weeks, until December 3rd. We will monitor the data on a daily basis and, if the situation improves, we can also stop the measure in advance ”.
