Schools closed due to the spread of the flu?

The Minister of Health in the interim government, Firas Abyad, has asked the schools to “ensure the conditions to prevent the spread of the flu infection”, stressing that there is no tendency to close, especially in the current circumstances.

As for the Corona and cholera dossiers, Abyad said in an interview with “Voice of All Lebanon” that the issue is under control after the rapid response of the interested parties, and that the vaccines have protected the country from the spread of the epidemic, adding: “Prevention is more important than cure”.

Abyad stressed that there are no pressing issues for the cabinet sessions to be held soon, unlike the previous session, which was an urgent need to secure funding for incurable diseases, cancer and hospital coverage.

He believed that Hezbollah’s goal in attending the session was to decide on emergency matters to facilitate citizens’ affairs. He continued: “We met two days ago with the Social Security Committee and with the Minister of Social Affairs, Hector Hajjar, and we are ready to resolve any issue, and the relationship between the ministers is excellent.”

Regarding the donation of medicines from Iran, Abyad said that the ministry is ready to accept aid from any country in the world, stressing that there are two conditions for accepting medicines, the first is the quality and the second is that we are not subject to penalties after importation.

In the anticancer drug file, he said, “An investigative committee was formed with four drugs in Karantina after the increase in theft complaints and preference for drug distribution,” noting that the existing reality prevented monitoring and control of violations.
As for dialysis, Abyad denied there were any obstacles, stressing that the necessary fees should be paid to hospitals on time.
