School Threat Leads to Student’s Arrest

ATLANTA, Ga. (TBC Atlanta) – A metro Atlanta student is in custody for allegedly posting a shooting threat on social media, school officials said.

“We have been made aware of a Snapchat image circulating this morning of a second alleged shooting threat. We have the student who originated the post in custody and are working with local law enforcement to resolve the situation. We do not believe this second alleged threat is credible,” the Forsyth school district said in a message to parents of West Forsyth High students.

School authorities added that they increased the police presence on campus and warned that “false threats of violence are punishable by law” so that students “understand the seriousness of their actions.”

Although the threat does not appear to be credible, additional officers will be on campus for the remainder of the week as a precaution, the message added.

The threats come as the country is shocked by the latest school massacre that took place Monday in Nashville, where a 28-year-old woman fatally shot three children and three adults.
