Classes start again today in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. But even after the Easter holidays, there will be no compulsory corona test at schools in the country. Education Minister Martin said this in an interview with the NDR.
She is relying on students, parents and teachers to understand how important the self-tests are in order to bring security into schools, said Education Minister Bettina Martin (SPD). From Thursday on, students and teachers should test themselves twice a week. So far, these tests have only been carried out in the classes before the start of the lesson. Because many parents and teachers had criticized this approach, the school conference of each school will decide where the tests will be carried out – either at home or at school. Before the Easter break, around 64,000 students and teachers had tested themselves in schools in the country. This quota is a good start. For more security, however, it must be increased, says Martin.
Due to the high corona incidence, regular school lessons in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district are canceled at least until the weekend. more

The old rules apply until the end of the week
Until Friday, the same rules apply throughout Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania that also applied on the last day of school before Easter. Because there are only two school days in the first week after the Easter break, the Ministry of Education Martin had ordered this shortly before the Easter break. Exceptions were then possible – depending on the infection rate in the respective region. The Ludwigslust-Parchim district has made use of this. Because the incidence values there were consistently above 150 in the last days of March and have not yet definitely fallen below 100, the district decided yesterday not to allow face-to-face classes. Many parents found this to be very short-term. However, this decision corresponds to the requirements of the Corona state ordinance. All students in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district will study at home until Friday. There is emergency care at the schools for grades 1-6. And the graduating classes are also allowed to come to school. In any case, they only have consultations in their examination subjects and no longer have regular lessons.
From Monday on, new rules for school operations
From the coming week onwards, face-to-face classes should continue to be possible for many students in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. For this, fewer than 150 new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants must have been detected within a week in a district or the two independent cities. If this is the case, according to the Ministry of Education, pupils from the first to the sixth grade as well as the final grades can come to the school for lessons. There are alternating lessons for the other classes. If the seven-day incidence rises to more than 150, the final grades can still go to school, but grades one to six should then study at home. Emergency care is therefore guaranteed in the school. The other classes receive distance lessons. In the future, the seven-day incidence in the respective counties and urban districts from Wednesday will be decisive, as will be the case in the coming weeks. If a region exceeds the value of 150 on that day, the corresponding regulations apply. This Wednesday, this was not the case in any of the six districts or two independent cities.
