School sport – More than 1,000 teenagers from Nièvre in full stride [Vidéo]

More than two hundred middle and high school students from forty-five of the forty-eight Nivernais establishments headed to the academic cross country on Wednesday, December 6 after their selection, Wednesday, November 22, during the departmental championship of the National School Sports Union ( UNSS) contested on the Senets plain, in Varennes-Vauzelles.

In the cold despite a few rays of sunshine, there were 1,111 youngest, juniors, cadets, juniors and seniors to set off on the four courses from 2,440 to 4,760 meters. “It’s a good vintage,” rejoices Sophie Martin, the departmental director of the UNSS.

The route was relatively flat. Only two small hills could open up some gaps on the finish line.

After all their efforts, the participants perked up with hot chocolate, served with cereal and applesauce.
