Families newly settled (since spring) in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut and who wish to apply for a school scholarship for the year 2024-2025, can submit their file to the Consulate General of France there in New York until Friday 13 September inclusive. This second annual scholarship application campaign also applies to families who would like to review the decision made at the end of the first scholarship campaign at the beginning of the year.
To submit your application to the consulate, you must make an appointment with the consulate’s social service (link here). Only the presence of one of the two parents is necessary.
Remember that only children (kindergarten through 12th grade) who meet the following criteria will benefit from a scholarship:
- be enrolled or currently enrolling in an institution approved by the AEFE. Only French courses from these institutions are eligible and not international IB courses
- to be of French nationality
- be at least three years old in the calendar year at the beginning of the school year
- not more than one year behind in primary school and more than two years behind in secondary school
- living with at least one parent in the New York consular district
- be registered in the global register of French people established outside France, just like the person applying for scholarships (father or mother)
- The family can no longer receive family benefits from the CAF (a certificate of deregistration is required for families whose children have stayed in France)
- Public law staff (including contractual) posted abroad are not eligible for the scheme.
The consular scholarship council will meet in the month of October, then the second National Scholarship Commission will meet in Paris in December and inform families of their decisions at the end of December.
