School rankings. There are more counties with a positive average in the 9th year

The number of municipalities with a positive average in the 9th grade exams increased in 2018/19. In 265 out of 307 municipalities (86% of the total), students achieved averages above 50%. And that causes 29 more municipalities to appear painted in green, increasing the spot on the map.

Arruda dos Vinhos is the only case with an average above 70%, but the municipality has only one school with an association contract. Arronches (Portalegre) and Sever do Vouga (Aveiro) are also above 65%, as well as Coimbra, which has more schools. Despite being less than in the previous year, there are 43 counties in red on the map. Alentejo, especially in the districts of Portalegre and Beja, is the region with the worst results, but there are also very low scores in Bragança, Castelo Branco and the Azores. Below 40% is Avis (Portalegre), Vila Velha de Ródão (Castelo Branco) and Ribeira Grande (Azores), but the Azorean municipality alone has done more than 50 exams, between Portuguese and Mathematics.
