School in Amstelveen not yet started to ensure ventilation | Inland

The lessons will probably start next Monday, but it is not yet clear how this will turn out exactly. This week the students will come to school, but only to get acquainted, to pick up their books and arrange laptops.

Avoid confusion of corona policy

CNV Education calls on schools to take the same measures as much as possible to limit the spread of the corona virus.

“We are concerned that every school will have its own safety policy. That creates confusion and hassle ”, says a spokeswoman for the union.

Confusion could currently arise about distance rules, mouth masks and ventilation measures. Several secondary schools in the country have decided on their own initiative to make the wearing of mouth masks compulsory. They are afraid that existing guidelines are inadequate.

CNV believes that the judgment of experts should always be leading. If schools already deviate from the national line, this should be done in consultation with the staff, the union believes.

The current rule is that students do not have to keep their distance from one another. They do have to keep 1.5 meters away from their teachers. The same also applies to members of staff among themselves.

The VO Council, which represents secondary schools, is not completely convinced of the current measures. The council wants the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) to review whether these are sufficient. The VO Council especially wants an opinion on mouth masks. “We see that some schools are introducing face masks and we want a policy as unambiguous as possible. Differences between schools lead to confusion, ”said chairman Paul Rosenmöller.

A spokeswoman for the RIVM could not yet say whether such a new assessment will be made. According to her, one difficulty is that clarity is requested about the added value of face masks, while science does not have an unequivocal answer to this, according to the institute.

Summer vacation behind us

The schools in the north of the country opened on Monday. The south will follow next week, and the following week the summer holidays will end in the central Netherlands.
