A study on school bullying was carried out by the Audirep institute for the Association e-Enfance/3018. According to the results, one in four children has already been a victim of this scourge.

As part of a study on the school bullying1,602 parent-child pairs, aged 6 to 18, were interviewed, representing a total of 3,204 people.
The survey was carried out by the Audirep institute fore-Childhood association/3018with the support of the Caisse d’Épargne. The results, published Wednesday October 9, are worrying: 24% of young people aged 6 to 18 have already been victims of harassment. Hundreds of thousands of children have suffered insults, mockery or even shoving in recent months, warned theassociation.
Harassment affects the youngest
This scourge particularly affects the youngest, with 27% of cases occurring in primary schools and 25% in middle schools.
The impact of these harms on mental and physical health is profound. In fact, 58% of victims say they have lost self-confidence or have devalued themselves, and 57% have encountered academic difficulties. Even more alarming, according to the study, “29% have considered suicide“.
Social networks and messaging targeted
The Audirep institute highlighted that 67% of primary school children are already registered on platforms such as WhatsApp or Snapchat. This figure reaches 93% among middle school students and 96% among high school students.
The study, however, found that 44% of children were bullied via WhatsApp, while 38% on social networks such as Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook.
L’e-Childhood association also specified that 93% of parents are aware that their children are at risk online.
In September 2023, the government implemented a new number to strengthen the fight against cyberbullying.
