Disruption of studies in a school close to the site of the violent fight, in order to preserve the safety of the students
In a shocking scene, which the Jordanian citizen was not accustomed to, a violent quarrel took place in the town of Al-Karima in the Irbid governorate, northern Jordan, in which a forty-year-old citizen was killed, deliberately run over by one of the parties, after the quarrel turned into a battle using vehicles and deliberate trampling.
The media spokesman for the Public Security Directorate, Col. Amer Al-Sartawi, told Al-Arabiya.net that a report had been received from the West Irbid Police Directorate that there was a quarrel between a number of people in the Karima area of Irbid governorate.
And he indicated that a security force moved immediately to the site, and the quarrel was broken up and the parties to the quarrel were arrested, and a person was arrested who ran over a group of people, which led to the death of forty people and the injury of a number of people.
He added that first aid was provided to the injured by civil defense cadres and they were treated to receive treatment. The deceased was evacuated to the forensic medicine center and investigations were launched.
For his part, the Director of Education of the Northern Jordan Valley, Dr. Majed Lafi, said that, in coordination with the administrative governor, the students of Karima Secondary School for Girls and Omar Ibn Al-Khattab School, which is close to the location of the quarrel, were suspended in order to preserve the safety of the students, due to the repercussions of the violent quarrel.
The region also witnessed riots during which polystyrene warehouses were burned following the crime.
Local media revealed the identity of the victim, “Muhammad Al-Shaar”, who died as a result of being deliberately run over by one of the parties to the quarrel.
