“We took the closure as an opportunity to once again raise awareness among parents in all eight municipal children’s facilities in our community,” said Rita Ehrlich, press spokeswoman for the community. There are six daycare centers and two after-school care centers in Mühlenbecker Land.

“If your child shows cold symptoms such as cough, runny nose or sore throat, please do not bring your child to the daycare center,” the administration appealed to parents. This not only serves to protect the adults and other children in the daycare, but above all to protect your own.

Kita “Am Schlosspark” in Schönfließ is not an isolated case recently

The “Am Schlosspark” daycare center in Schönfließ has not been an isolated case in recent weeks. There have also recently been an increase in corona cases in other facilities in the community – as well as in the entire Oberhavel district.

As the health department announced in response to MAZ’s request, there were ten cases confirmed by PCR tests in the 40th calendar week, which ran from September 30th to October 6th. The week before there were 35 (week 39), the week before that it was 14 (week 38). In the current week there are ten cases as of Thursday at 11:30 a.m. According to the health department, 17 people in the district have died from and with Covid-19 this year.

“The numbers are hardly meaningful anymore because fewer people are being tested. Only laboratory-confirmed tests are included,” said medical officer Simone Daiber, classifying the numbers. “Various omicron variants are currently circulating, most of which cause mild to moderate disease with symptoms lasting one to two weeks.”

These are common signs of Corona

Common signs of Covid-19 disease include cough, runny nose, sore throat and fever. Headaches and body aches, general weakness and even shortness of breath can also occur.

Infected people can be contagious days before the first symptoms appear. At the same time, depending on the variant, infection can only be detected using a rapid test after two to three days.

If a corona infection has been diagnosed, in most cases it is no longer necessary to go to hospital. Those affected can cure their illness at home. The doctor will then prescribe, for example, fever-reducing agents or cough medicine.

However, people with risk factors should contact their family doctor or specialist practice at an early stage. This also applies to vaccinated people. If you need medical help outside of normal consultation hours, it is best to contact the medical emergency service on 116117. In emergencies, for example acute shortness of breath, you should call 112.
