German Chancellor Olaf Scholz commented that negotiations on the EU’s accession to the Western Balkans must be completed quickly. The German representative explained that Albania and northern Macedonia have the right to join the group.
He insists that each subsequent delay makes the Western Balkans more vulnerable to influence than third countries.
“It is clear to us that the EU must continue with institutional reforms. In this way, it will be able to expand,” Scholz was quoted as saying by Danas.bg.
Negotiations with the Western Balkans are a priority for the EU. Northern Macedonia and Albania are awaiting a call for talks.
