German Chancellor Olaf Scholz warned Russia against invading Ukraine and stressed that Russia should not underestimate the West’s determination to impose sanctions. About it informs DW on Thursday, February 10th.
“In this critical situation, Russia should not underestimate our resolve and unity – as partners in the EU, as allies in NATO. I want to make it clear: we take the concerns of our allies very seriously,” Scholz said.
He added that what was at stake was nothing less than preventing war in Europe.
“We want peace,” Scholz recalled and added that the Russian Federation would face serious political, economic and strategic consequences in the event of an invasion of Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that on February 14 Scholz will visit Kiev, after which he will go to Moscow. The main purpose of the visits of the German Chancellor is the situation around Ukraine.
