German police are investigating signals made by several women after an event organized by the parliamentary group of Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s party, AP reported.
They felt dizzy during the event and believe they were forcibly drugged. Their memories are lost for hours.
The police ordered blood test for analysis of possible toxic substances.
The women ate and drank at the event, but did not consume alcohol, police said.
The police have launched an investigation against unknown persons on suspicion of bodily harm.
Social Democrat co-chairman Lars Klingbeil told Welt TV, that he was “furious that something like this could happen at an event” organized by the party. He said the leadership of the parliamentary group was cooperating with authorities and hoped “the perpetrator or perpetrators will be caught and then brought to justice.”
About 1,000 people attended the annual party on Wednesdayand among them were the chancellor, deputies and their employees.
