Scholz goes to Nord Stream-1, why

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will inspect the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline turbine at the center of the current energy dispute between Russia and Germany.

Moscow justifies the reduced supply of gas to Europe with the absence of this machine, which underwent service in Canada.

The turbine is ready for transportation to Russia, Siemens Energy announced in its invitation to the inspection, BNT informs. It will take place at the company’s site in Mülheim an der Ruhr.

Gazprom said last week that handing over the turbine to Germany instead of Russia after the end of servicing activities in Canada was not in line with the contract.

The location of the key unit remained unclear. The European Union does not dispute Gazprom’s contention that the sharp reduction in gas supplies is a consequence of problems with the turbine.
