“Schnidi, the ghost of the Neolithic”, Thursday June 9 on France 5 (video)

To see or see again Thursday, June 7 at 9:00 p.m. on France 5 in “Science grand format”, the film “Schnidi, the ghost of the Neolithic”.

This is the story of a cold case that has remained top secret for a long time. Summer 2003, Europe is suffocating. The continent is going through one of the worst heat waves in its history. In Switzerland, glaciers are retreating at an alarming rate. It was then that one of these glaciers, below the Schnidejoch pass, released a mysterious object: a piece of Neolithic quiver.

Dispatched to the spot incognito, a team of high mountain specialist archaeologists began an excavation at an altitude of nearly 3000m. And what they discover goes beyond what they could have imagined: they unearth the complete equipment of a Neolithic man, dating back nearly 5000 years. His clothes and weapons are preserved in exceptional condition.
But his body is still missing…

Who was this man ? What happened to him ? Why was only his equipment discovered?

To find that ghost man they baptized Schnidi, the archaeologists embarked on an extraordinary hunt. They want at all costs to solve this cold case almost 5000 years old…
