Schneider Electric Korea announced that it participated in the ‘2024 Advanced Robot Infrastructure Construction Business Convergence Exchange Meeting’ held at the Gaya Hall of Lotte Hotel & Resort in Gimhae from the 14th to the 15th and presented an innovative logistics solution centered on open automation technology.
The exchange meeting was hosted by the Gimhae Life Insurance Industry Promotion Agency, Korea Robot Users Association, Gyeongnam Techno Park, and Gyeongnam Robot Land Foundation, and was held with the goal of revitalizing used robot remanufacturing and logistics service robot platforms.
Manager Geon Kim of Schneider Electric Korea’s Industrial Automation Division explained the need for open automation in a presentation on ‘Software Defined Logistics Automation‘. He introduced EcoStruxure Automation Expert, Schneider Electric’s representative solution, and suggested how this solution can flexibly respond to changing demands and complex processes in the logistics industry.
EcoStruxure Automation Expert is the world’s first open automation solution based on the IEC61499 international standard, enabling modeling and deployment of software applications independent of hardware. This technology enables integration between various hardware and software systems, helping logistics companies build customized automation environments.
Manager Kim Gun emphasized the importance of open software that breaks away from specific hardware dependencies to optimize the logistics automation process. Open software is attracting attention in that it saves time and cost based on compatibility with various hardware platforms and enhances the scalability of automation processes.
Manager Kim also explained about Universal Automation.Org, a non-profit organization that aims to spread open automation. This association maximizes efficiency and supports the spread of automation technology by sharing the runtime engine of automation technology regardless of brand.
Schneider Electric provides customized solutions to support digital transformation in the logistics industry, and simultaneously pursues cost reduction and productivity improvement through software-based automation technology.
Manager Kim Gun said, “Open automation is a core technology that increases the efficiency of logistics processes and can quickly respond to changing market environments.” He added, “Schneider Electric will support customers’ digital transformation through the industry’s first open solution and contribute to the development of the industry.” “He emphasized.

Hello! Thank you for joining us today on World-Today-News.com. We are delighted to have you as our guests. Let’s get started with our interview.
Section 1: Open Automation in Logistics Industry
Host: Schneider Electric Korea recently presented an innovative logistics solution centered on open automation technology at the ‘2024 Advanced Robot Infrastructure Construction Business Convergence Exchange Meeting’. Can you tell us more about the importance of open automation in logistics and how it can help companies optimize their processes?
Guest 1: Sure, open automation is a game-changer in the logistics industry as it allows greater flexibility and scalability in automation processes. Traditionally, automation systems have been designed around specific hardware, which limits their ability to adapt to changing demands and complex processes. With open automation, software applications can be developed independently of hardware, enabling companies to use a mix of different systems and devices that best suit their needs. This results in cost savings, increased productivity, and faster response times to market changes.
Guest 2: Absolutely! The logistics industry is constantly evolving, and companies need to keep up with customer demands and adapt to new technologies. Open automation provides a platform that allows for easy integration of different systems, reducing the time and cost required for software development and hardware integration. It also promotes innovation and collaboration between vendors, creating a more robust and efficient ecosystem for logistics automation.
Host: Schneider Electric proposes EcoStruxure Automation Expert as its representative solution for software-defined logistics automation. Can you give our readers an overview of this solution and how it addresses the challenges faced by logistics companies?
Guest 1: EcoStruxure Automation Expert is an open automation platform that enables modeling and deployment of software applications without hardware dependencies. This means companies can build custom automation environments while leveraging their existing hardware investments.
