Roger Schmidt once again had to answer questions about PSV’s line-up. He is under fire after the game against Feyenoord for taking Cody Gakpo off the side early and PSV lost 0-4.
The PSV fans were clearly not happy about it. “Yes, I understand that 100%”, Schmidt tells ESPN. “The best players also depend on form and freshness. It’s not that you can always draft them. If everyone is fresh, they are always available. We have to play fifty games until the end of the season.”
The ESPN reporter on duty is Hans Kraay Jr. Schmidt is annoyed by the former football player because he regularly interrupts him. The German asks if he can finish talking. “I’m the coach. If I have to make my line-up depend on the supporters, then I can’t be the coach. No, I didn’t read anything. They weren’t happy with Gakpo’s substitution, I understand, but I have to make my decisions.”
“The quality of your questions is decreasing,” Schmidt tells Kraay Jr. “If you want to play successfully, you need the whole team. That’s not new. If you think that, fine, I have a completely different idea. I understand the questions, but with my experience I see it completely differently.”
