The Schlosstrasse in Winterthur needs to be renovated. Construction is scheduled to start in autumn 2022.
In the Schlosstalstrasse – in the area from the A1 autobahn to Aldi – various works lines need to be replaced or renovated. Afterwards, the road must be comprehensively repaired. The civil engineering department submits the rehabilitation project to the population for participation.
Several utility lines in Schlosstalstrasse require renovation or renewal: The civil engineering department is enlarging and renovating the existing sewer system from 1936. Stadtwerk Winterthur is creating, among other things, a new water transport line, replacing the gas transport line, planning a new supply line over a length of 430 meters and building it a pipe block for the electricity. As a result of this extensive works management work, the Schlosstalstrasse in the area from the A1 motorway to the Aldi has to be renewed.
The renovation is used as an opportunity for the following optimizations and adjustments:
– The communal foot connection from Lettenstrasse to the local recreation area on the opposite bank of the Töss will be redesigned to be safe for pedestrians via the Schlosstalstrasse by means of a marked transition and central island.
– The sidewalks are created with a width of 2 to 2.5 meters. At the bus stops, the width is 2 meters on both sides.
– The three existing crossings for pedestrians will be optimized in terms of their location. They are integrated into the bus stop infrastructure to increase safety.
– The cycle lanes will be widened to 1.5 meters and marked; In the future, lanes with a width of 3.25 meters will be available for motorized individual traffic.
– In the project perimeter there are a total of three bus stops (with six stopping edges), which are designed as carriageway stops. The bus stops will be equipped with new concrete slabs, designed to be barrier-free. The arrangement and design of the bus stops will be optimized with regard to traffic safety and traffic flow.
The total investment (including works management) amounts to around thirteen million francs. With a cost accuracy of plus / minus ten percent, the costs for road construction amount to 3.4 to 4.2 million francs. Because the Schlosstalstrasse is a cross-municipal road, the costs for the road construction can be financed by the cantonal road fund. The city of Winterthur is unlikely to incur any costs.
The renovation project will be submitted to the population for participation from today in accordance with the Road Act. Construction is scheduled to start in autumn 2022.
