Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival: Dataport invites you to an orchestra rehearsal

Excitement on stage and in the audience – on August 1st, the public rehearsal for the festival orchestra’s concert took place as part of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival (SHMF). Since 1987, around 120 young musicians from different nations have met every summer for the Orchestra Academy in Schleswig-Holstein. They learn from experienced musicians and rehearse together for their big final concert.

The Festival Orchestra’s rehearsal was also exciting for the audience. Music students from Schleswig-Holstein and their accompaniment were invited by Dataport to attend the rehearsal in the Thormannhalle in Rendsburg. This year the youth orchestra rehearsed under the direction of conductor Andris Poga. The program included Richard Strauss’ “An Alpine Symphony” op. 64. After the rehearsal, the students had the opportunity to talk to the musicians personally and have their instruments explained to them.

The official closing concerts of the Festival Orchestra on August 3rd and 4th will take place together with Reinhold Messner. The extreme mountaineer will accompany the concert with his own texts about his mountain tours and allow the audience to share in his experiences in a special setting.

The Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival runs until September 1st. Dataport is a partner of the SHMF and has been inviting music students to rehearsals at the Orchestra Academy since 2006.
