Tim Piontek was not only in the best of moods around the start of training at Schlesisches SV Lüdenscheid on Dickenberg, but also in really good spirits. “I would like to play for promotion with this team,” emphasized the coach of the B division, who has strengthened himself with four newcomers.

Lüdenscheid – flashback: Schlesische SV, who had made it their mission to place in the top 3, finished fourth in the table in the 2022/23 season, three points behind their neighbor Polonia. “In the end it was a decent to good season that we played. If we hadn’t started with three minus points, we would have ended the season in third place,” said Piontek. The SSV started in the summer of 2022 with three minus points – it was the result of not appearing in Herscheid at the end of the 2021/22 season. The so-called “Mallorca paragraph” had taken effect. But that is history. The view is long ahead of the new season, in which the blue and yellow can go this time without point deduction mortgage. Everything to zero.

“The core of our team has stayed together. I’m very happy about that because all the top performers stayed,” emphasized the 35-year-old, who will be going into his second season as SSV head coach. Dennis Rau is now at his side as assistant coach. He played 20 games for SSV last season, but now wants to concentrate on the role of “Co” and thus Jan-Philipp Rau’s position (stops) takes over. Tadeusz Protzek, one of the long-running favorites of the past season, will be cut back significantly. There are no other departures.

New at Schlesisches SV are Dominik Kamp (Sportfreunde Biggetal), Patrick Ertelt (TuS Herscheid II), Alessandro Kolodziej (FSV Werdohl A-Junioren) and Moroccan Hamza Zebta, who according to his coach “hasn’t lived in Germany for long”. Four approaches that Piontek is completely convinced of, both in terms of football and as a person. “We have a great team spirit and a good quality in the squad. From my point of view, we don’t need to hide from any team in the B-League”, Tim Piontek looks with absolute confidence to the new season, in which he counts runner-up SV Hellas Lüdenscheid and Polonia, the neighbor of Dickenberg, among the favourites. TuRa Brügge also trusts Tim Piontek, who completes the first test with his team on Sunday (1 p.m.) against the A-league club TSV Lüdenscheid, far too much in a league in which, in contrast to the district upper house, it is almost teeming with Lüdenscheid teams. There will be city derbies against RWL II, SV Hellas, Polonia, LTV 61, TuRa Brügge, SCL II and newly promoted FC Maroc, who Schlesische SV will meet at the Dickenberg Cup (July 21st to 23rd). Other tournament participants are next to the organizer Polonia district league SC Lüdenscheid, TSV Lüdenscheid and TuRa Brügge.
