SCHLAGERCHAMPIONS: Howard Carpendale honored for his life’s work

The ONE OF THE BEST for his life’s work went to Howard Carpendale at the SCHLAGERCHAMPIONS on Saturday evening. As the 75 year old accepted the award, he made it clear right away: “I’m not finished yet!”

Howard Carpendale was born in 1946 in Durban, South Africa. He developed two passions early on: sport and music. Whether it’s the shot put, rugby or skiing, Howard Carpendale was always on the move. In the end, however, the music won and so at 18 Howard wanted to go where the hottest music of the time came from: from Europe, more precisely England.

It is hard to explain. When I was 18, I simply had the feeling: Out of South Africa, the bear is loose in England and I have to be a part of it.

After a short while on the island, Howard Carpendale arrived In the late 1960s to Germany. He had his first hit with a cover song for the Beatles and with “The beautiful girl from side one” soon his big breakthrough. After some ups and downs, he ended up with in 1977 “Ti Amo” and “Door to Door with Alice” Huge hits. During this time, personal happiness followed. His son, born in 1977, comes from his first marriage Wayne Carpendale – Thanks to him he’s now a proud grandpa too! Since 1983 he lived with Donnice together. With her he has another son, Cass.

After a little quieter years he succeeded “Hello again” 1984 a furious comeback. He re-recorded the song in 2019 with many of his other hits. Together with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the “Symphony of my life”. With that he fulfilled a lifelong dream. Last year he repeated this dream and published the follow-up “Symphony of my Life 2”. Both HITCH CHAMPIONS he said about these two albums:

75th birthday, two “symphonies of his life” and now the honor for his life’s work. You’d think that Howard Carpendale’s final chapter in his career is about to begin. But to his 75th birthday At the beginning of the year he confidently said: “I still have a lot to do.”
