Schiphol CEO Announces Ban on Night Flights by 2025

The new CEO of the Dutch airport Schiphol wants to cancel all night flights at the airport before the end of 2025. All flights are canceled between midnight and five in the morning. Only planes are allowed to land at the airport between five and six o’clock.

Exceptions are only possible if safety is at stake, explains Ruud Sondag. Schiphol wants to gradually introduce the ban from November.

There will also be a ban on private jets. These now account for about 17,000 flights per year. An exception applies to trauma helicopters, police helicopters and coastguard aircraft.
