Schiedam has decided not to close the Pas Op coffee shop. The coffee shop was in violation, but there are too few coffee shops in the city when it is closed, says Mayor Lamers.

At the beginning of 2019, it turned out that Pas Op had sold soft drugs to a minor twice. The mayor then decided to close the case for three months.
The coffee shop owner thought the measure was too far and went to court. He was right. The mayor appealed against this to the Council of State, which found that the mayor had the right to close. The mayor has now waived that right.
The pressure on other shops in the municipality would become too great, with all the inconvenience that this entails, writes Mayor Lamers.
