Schibsted sells Møteplassen | Finansavisen

After more than 15 years of ownership, Schibsted is selling the dating service Møteplassen to Hungarian Dating Central Europe (DACE) and Austrian Russmedia Equity Partners, according to a press release.

– The meeting place has been part of Schibsted’s long-term ownership strategy, which has given both parties great benefits over the years. Now it is time for a more industry-specialized player to take over the ownership and take Møteplassen to the next phase, says operations director Peter Grytterhielm in Schibsted Financial Services & Ventures and former chairman of the board of Møteplassen.

DACE, owned by founder and CEO Peter Weiler, are active buyers, with dating services in five countries in Europe, under almost 20 different brands. The company operates, among other things, Randivonal, which is the Hungarian answer to Møteplassen.

– Møteplassen and Randivonal have similar business models, and both have developed a premium dating service over the past 20 years. We have no plans to merge the platforms, because we are convinced that it is the local market that must run the services, says Weiler.

The meeting place will continue its operations from its head office in Varberg in Sweden.
