Mark Scheifele led the way with a hat trick as the Winnipeg Jets won 4-2 over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday.
Pierre-Luc Dubois also scored as the Jets snapped a three-game losing streak. Kyle Connor and Josh Morrissey each had two assists. Conor Garland and Andrei Kuzmenko scored for the Canucks, who saw their three-game hitting streak die.
Connor Hellebuyck stopped 20 of 22 shots for Winnipeg (22-13-1). The Jets are now 13-6-0 at Canada Life Center.
Collin Delia made 35 saves for Vancouver (16-16-3).
Garland led the Canucks within 13:11 of the third period. Lui grabbed a rebound on the backboard behind the net, then took a shot wide from Hellebuyck.
But Scheifele put the game away with an empty net with 28 seconds left.
The Jets took a 3-1 lead in the third period after hitting three unanswered goals and beating Vancouver 19-6 in the second. Scheifele scored his second power-play goal of the night when his shot crossed Delia with 2.5 seconds left in the frame.
Dubois put the Jets ahead when he was awarded a penalty shot after he was kicked off by Canucks defenseman Ethan Bear. Dubois clearly beat Delia at 15:42.
With Lane Pederson out for a trip, Scheifele deflected Morrissey’s slap shot off the blue line past Delia on the power play at 1:52 of the second.
The Canucks drew first blood just 41 seconds into the game, taking advantage of a horrific giveaway from Dylan Samberg in his own endgame.
The Jets defensive back threw the puck to Elias Pettersson, who passed it to Kuzmenko. The left winger quickly overtook Hellebuyck for his 15th of the season.
Winnipeg did not score its first goal until 9:39 of the first period.
